Our Chicagoland company has grown tremendously both in staff and skill, with combined experience of personnel above 300 years! Where We Came From In 1966, the United States was on the brink of a media revolution. Music was exploding in popularity—The Beatles had just released Revolver, The Mamas & the Papas debuted their second hit album, and classic singles like Paint It Black and Good Vibrations were on every radio. On top of that, film productions were becoming more and more sophisticated, with epic films like Doctor Zhivago and The Sound of Music warring for Academy Awards. Between 1949 and 1969, the number of household televisions jumped from less than one million to 44 million. James R. Barrett saw an opportunity in this media revolution. With the growing popularity of color television, he started Barrett Magnavox, focusing on what was then the luxury brand for televisions and stereos.
